What is IELTS Exam?

IELTS is an acronym for the International English Language Testing System. The IELTS system is developed by British Council, IDP education and Cambridge Assessment English. Yearly a large number of people throughout the world appear in this IELTS Exam. It tests English Language Proficiency for non-native English speakers.

What is IELTS Listening Exam?

The IELTS Listening exam is to assess the ability of test takers to understand the English language spoken by native speakers. In IELTS reading exam the candidate will listen to four recordings. The first recording will be a conversation between two people that may talk about anything like renting a house, booking an appointment with a doctor, etc. The second recording will be talking like a speech or describing something in detail. The third recording will be a discussion between three or four people. The fourth recording will be more like a university lecture.

What is IELTS Reading Exam?

The IELTS reading exam is different for Academic and General Training. General Training Reading is for job visa seekers and IELTS Academic Reading is for study purposes. This part has a time of one hour and you will have to answer 40 questions. It will consist of three long texts, having a length of one page or a quarter of a page. What is IELTS Writing Exam?

Just like the reading exam, the IELTS writing exam is also different for academic and general training purposes. The time of this test is also one hour and you have to answer two questions. Each candidate will be asked to complete two tasks. In the first task, you will be asked to describe a graph, picture, diagram, or something like this in a minimum of 150 words. Usually, it takes 20 minutes to complete this task. In task two, you will be given a topic to write a descriptive note on it. In this task, you are expected to highlight both positive and negative aspects. It must consist of a minimum of 250 words.

What is IELTS Speaking Exam?

The IELTS speaking exam is to judge your ability to speak English. This part may take up to 15 minutes. It has three parts, in the first part, you will be asked questions about yourself like your hometown, etc. In the second part, you have to talk about a topic for a minimum of two minutes. IELTS Listening is the first part of the IELTS Exam. It consists of 40 marks. Each IELTS exam has a total band of nine. You can score a maximum band 9 if you have 36 marks in IELTS listening. There are a few tips to get a good band in IELTS.

  1. If you are not used to listening to English native speakers then try to watch English documentaries it will improve your listening skills.
  2. During the preparation of the test solve at least 15 practice tests for listening.
  3. During the test, you will have a minute before the start of listening to read the question paper. During this time read the paper carefully and try to remember what is being asked in the question.

  1. Task one must have at least 150 words and for task two 250 words you will get negative points if you did not complete it. So, never write less than minimum words.
  2. There should be coherence and fluency in your writing.
  3. You should use maximum synonyms and unique words. Never use the same word many times.
  4. You should use a diverse range of grammatical sentences and must have good accuracy in it as well.
  5. Use complex and compound sentences i.e. use words like if, there, either, neither, although, however, etc
  6. In task two, write it in a neutral way argue for both sides and in the end, also give your own opinion.

How to get a good score in IELTS Speaking Exam?

It is the fourth part of the IELTS exam. You have to talk with an expert English speaker. The IELTS speaking exam has three parts. Here are few tips to get good score in IELTS.

  1. Make your answer explanatory rather than short. Because they are not interested in your rather they want to check your English skills. If you speak only a few words, they can not be sure about your English speaking skills.
