Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2024 applications are open. Eligibility Criteria for Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

To be eligible for the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Being a citizen of a developing country that is a member of the World Bank. List of Eligible Countries
• Not having dual citizenship in any developed country.
• Being in good health.
• Having completed a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) three year prior to 2024 and having at least three years of recent development-related experience since then.
• Currently employed in a paid, full-time position that is relevant to the development goals of the JJ/WBGSP scholarship program.
• Having applied to or been accepted into a master’s degree program in a development-related field at a university in one of the preferred countries for the scholarship program.
• Having a minimum of two years of work experience in development-related activities after completing a Bachelor’s degree program.
• Not being an Executive Director, alternate, or staff member of the World Bank Group, or a close relative (defined as mother, father, sister, half-sister, brother, half-brother, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew) of any such person.
• Being under the age of 45 when submitting the scholarship application.

Scholarship Benefits of Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship entitles the awardee to a range of benefits, which include:

1. Economy class air travel between the scholar’s home country and the host university at the beginning of the study program and at the end of the scholarship period. Along with the two-way air travel, the scholarship includes a travel allowance of US $500 for each trip.
2. The scholarship covers the tuition fees for the graduate program and also provides basic medical insurance obtained through the university.
